İstiklâl Marşı, is the national anthem of the Republic of Turkey. It was written by M. Akif Ersoy and first published in 1911.
It is a song of praise to the liberty, freedom and justice, which are the fundamental principles of the Republic of Turkey. The song consists of six verses, with a long introduction and a short coda.
In the introduction, M. Akif Ersoy makes an argument for the values of liberty, freedom and justice. He states that the reason why these values are important is because they are the foundations of the Republic of Turkey. He concludes his introduction by saying: "Turkey, like all nations, must lay claim to the rights of humanity, or it will perish.
